Three easy trails — estuary, forest, and oxbow lake — off Siltcoos Beach Road.
Three short, interesting trails depart from this trailhead in the Siltcoos Recreation Area. The Waxmyrtle Trail (1.5 miles one way) follows the Siltcoos River through a saltwater estuary to the beach; the Chief Tsiltcoos Trail (1.25-mile loop) winds up and down through coastal forest; and the Lagoon Trail (1-mile loop, 0.25 miles east of the trailhead) circles a wildlife-rich oxbow lake — an old arm of the Siltcoos River. Located 13.5 miles north of Reedsport on US 101 at milepost 198; turn west onto Siltcoos Beach Road and drive 1 mile. Difficulty: Easy. Fee/pass required for parking; no trailhead facilities, though adjacent campgrounds have restrooms and water.
