Gear Up Like a Local Forager at Umpqua Trading Co.

The damp coastal forests around Reedsport are prime foraging ground — just know your species and check current regulations before you pick. Fall (October–November) is the peak season: heavy rains trigger major flushes of matsutake, autumn porcini, and chanterelles. Spring (April–May) is a secondary season for spring porcini, and if the area burned the summer before, morels may fruit in the burn. Stop by Umpqua Trading Company for supplies and local tips on where to go.

Biking the Backroads & Dune Trails

Quiet river-valley backroads and firm dune-edge trails make for scenic riding, no set route required. Bring a gravel or fat-tire bike and go exploring beyond the pavement.
