Rainy Day Reedsport
Indoor things to do in Reedsport when the coast turns gray — museums, galleries, and cozy stops to wait out an Oregon Coast rain.
1
Umpqua Discovery Center

Right on the Reedsport riverfront, this hidden gem walks you through two immersive wings, one tracing the area's history with a walk-through fish cannery and tidewater town, the other letting you slide into a bear cave and explore hands-on nature exhibits. There's a 50-seat theater with dozens of short films and a wild 35-foot periscope with 360° views. Give it a couple hours, and don't skip the boardwalk out back along the river.

2
Mindpower Gallery

Wander through seven rooms of local art like your own little treasure hunt. This old town gallery has been showing work from 50+ Oregon artists for over 36 years. Beyond the paintings and framing, there's a cozy wine tasting room pouring Umpqua Valley and Willamette Valley wines. It's the kind of place you pop into for five minutes and leave an hour later with a new favorite piece.

3
Creative Mercantile

This Old Town vendor mall is stuffed with finds from over 50 local makers, think farmhouse furniture, handmade jewelry, boutique clothing, and vintage treasures. The mix changes constantly, so regulars swear it's always worth another look. Owner Jenee (and her dogs) are usually around to say hi, making it feel more like a friend's shop than a store.

4
Two Shy Brewing

The Ella Pilsner alone is worth the stop, born from the founders sampling 65+ pilsners across Germany. Beyond that, the tap list swings from juicy hazy IPAs to bourbon-barrel stouts, plus rotating ciders. Grab a pint and pair it with food from Highwater Cafe or Pizza To Go, who post up on-site most nights.

5
Highwater Cafe & Market

Locals will tell you the breakfast sandwich is the move, any time of day. It's part cafe, part market, with house-baked pastries and espresso in the morning, fresh soups and salads by lunch, and local beer and wine on the shelf. Bright, welcoming, and the kind of spot where the staff remembers your order.

6
Reedsport Lanes

A classic, no-frills 12-lane bowling alley with serious retro charm, think basic scoreboards, a great jukebox vibe, and 80s energy all around. There's a snack bar serving beer and wine, plus Oregon Lottery if you're feeling lucky. Kids love the arcade games, and locals love the laid-back, quiet pace that makes it an easy, affordable night out for the whole family.

7
Reedsport Community Center Gym

Located at 451 Winchester Ave, the Community Center Gym is Reedsport's go-to spot for pickup basketball, pickleball, and community events. It's a large multi-purpose space with a full basketball court, big windows for natural light, and enough room to double as an event venue for everything from art shows to wine tastings. Open gym times and drop-in activities are typically scheduled through the City Office, so that's the best place to check current hours and reserve a spot. Ample parking and easy accessibility make it a simple stop whether you're there to shoot hoops or catch a community event.
